A group of unidentified people living in North Carolina assaulted a family and plundered their home in a terrifying episode involving duct tape and hot butter knives.
Harnett County Sheriff’s officers arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. on June 15 in Spout Springs, near Fayetteville.
Five or six male suspects arrived in a silver Dodge Challenger and entered through an open door in the garage, where the husband, wife, daughter, and a friend were hanging out. The victims were then compelled to relocate into the residence, according to WRAL.

Law & Crime said that the suspects used duct tape to confine the victims before torturing them with kitchenware. “They took and put a knife and fork — like a butter knife — on top of the stove and heated it up, and they just started sticking it to the bodies,” Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats told Law and Crime. “They were trying to get them to tell them where their money and guns were.”
The suspects stole two cars but did not take any cash or firearms, according to the sheriff’s office.
The husband, wife, and daughter were treated at UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
A sister of the homeowner created a GoFundMe page for the family to aid with healthcare expenditures and “assist with anything they need to support them in navigating this traumatic and invasive event.”
The fundraiser had raised more than $16,000 by Wednesday. “My sister and her family members are suffering physically, emotionally, and mentally. Our extended family and closest friends are crushed. “Their home was vandalized, and their peace of mind and safety will never be the same,” the independent stated.
It is unknown whether any suspects have been arrested. The Independent emailed the sheriff’s office for comment.
