West Hartford Man Confesses to Selling $411k in Stolen Catalytic Converters

HARTFORD, Conn. – A man from West Hartford pleaded a guilty plea to the charges that were brought against him in connection with a trafficking ring that involved stolen catalytic converters throughout the state.

On Wednesday, Yanquee Rodriguez, who is 28 years old and lives in West Hartford, entered a guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property as well as one count of interstate transportation of stolen property.

Documents filed in court indicate that Downpipe Depot & Recycling LLC, located in East Hartford, would purchase stolen catalytic converters from a group of thieves, one of whom would be Rodriguez. After that, the company would transport the catalytic converters to recycling enterprises located in the states of New York and New Jersey as per WWLP.

Rodriguez was revealed to be one of the main sellers of stolen catalytic converters, according to the business records that were collected during the inquiry. Between January 2021 and June 2022, Downpipe Depot compensated Rodriguez with a total of $411,845 for the stolen items.

On November 15, 2023, Rodriguez was taken into custody.
