A hit-and-run incident resulting in the death of a 61-year-old man has taken a significant turn with the apprehension of a suspect.
According to a report from KHOU, Emilio Cruz Jr., 33, is now facing charges for not stopping and providing assistance in the incident that tragically resulted in the death of Enrique Godinez. Godinez was cycling near Needville when he was hit, and his body was discovered days later by construction workers.
The search for Godinez started after his family reported him missing on May 28, as they had last seen him on May 19. As per a report from ABC13, his body was found on June 11 in a ditch along FM 361 near Pine Meadow Lane, where debris from a car and a broken bicycle were also present. An autopsy was conducted by the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the identity of Godinez and determine the cause of death.

Following the tragic event, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and discovered that a traffic incident had been reported on May 24.
