Florida Science Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Relation with a High School Student: Authorities

The Venice High School teacher was taken into custody by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office after their investigation revealed that he had engaged in sexual activity with one of his students.

Jack Riddick was taken into custody and charged with three felonies, including two charges of an authority figure soliciting or participating in sexual behavior with a student and one single count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in a love relationship with a student, as stated by the authorities.

An administrator from Sarasota County Schools made a call to the Special Victims Unit of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in order to report an email that was received by the principal of Venice High School. This was the beginning of the investigation. There were extensive conversations from a social media chat that took place between Reddick and the student that were included in the anonymous email.

Riddick is listed as a science teacher at the school as per MySunCoast News.

Today, Riddick is still being held in detention on a bond of $75,000 for each of the three accusations against him.
