Deadly Weekend in Chicago! 25 Shot, 8 Fatally, Including Two Males Found Dead in South Side Car

CHICAGO – So far this weekend, at least 25 people have been shot in Chicago, eight of whom have died.

Two males were found shot to death inside a car on Chicago’s South Side on Sunday morning, according to police.

Police said the males were found lifeless in a Jeep Cherokee in the Calumet Park neighborhood’s 12300 block of South Halsted shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Both guys looked to have multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear. Police did not immediately provide any information.

Detectives from Area Two are conducting an investigation.

A 34-year-old man was fatally shot outside a Jewel grocery store in Old Town early Saturday, according to Chicago police.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the victim was shot multiple times outside the store near Sedgwick and Division.

He was taken to Northwestern Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police are looking for the shooter.

Detectives from Area Three are conducting an investigation.

Hours later, a 44-year-old man was fatally shot on the city’s South Side, authorities said.

At at 10:40 a.m., police reported a shooting in the Bronzeville neighborhood’s 2900 block of South State Street.

According to police, an unknown person shot the man multiple times. He was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.

There is no one in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating.

Three adolescents were shot, one of whom died, on the city’s North Side Friday evening.

Officials with the Chicago Fire Department stated the incident took place near North Rockwell Street and West Hollywood Avenue in West Ridge.

Chicago police said they responded to the 5600 block of North Rockwell and discovered three 16-year-old youths who had been hit by a gunshot while entering a car.

One was shot in the back and sent to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Benicio Gomez of Rogers Park.

Another youngster was wounded in the shoulder and brought to St. Francis Hospital, where he is in serious condition. The third victim was struck in the knee and sent to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he is listed in fair condition.

A witness told police that the shooter fled the area in a black SUV. Nobody is currently in custody.

An investigation by Area Three detectives is currently underway.

A guy was fatally shot Saturday afternoon on the city’s Southwest Side.

Around 3:26 p.m., Chicago police discovered the victim, a 49-year-old man, with several gunshot wounds in the 4300 block of West 25th Street.

According to police, gunshot detection technology alerted officers to the shooting.

The individual who was shot was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital and ultimately pronounced dead, according to police. His identity was not immediately revealed.

Area investigators are still looking into the case. Nobody was in custody.

A teenager was shot and died Saturday evening in a park on the city’s South Side.

The gunshot occurred around 6:38 p.m. on the 6500 block of South Racine Avenue in the Englewood area, according to Chicago police.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was shot in the chest and legs after engaging in a verbal confrontation with an unknown criminal, according to authorities.

The boy was transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital and later confirmed dead.

The victim, Marvel White, was recognized by family members as 16 years old. Relatives say he was supposed to begin his junior year at Dyett High School in the autumn.

Nobody was in custody. Police are still investigating.

On Sunday, three individuals were shot, one fatally, at a gas station on the city’s southwest side.

Chicago police said the incident occurred around 4:59 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Kedzie Avenue. According to the CPD, gunfire detection equipment notified officers to the shooting.

Police reported that a 19-year-old guy was shot at the scene. He was eventually pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

According to abc7chicago, the other two victims, a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, took themselves to Mt. Sinai Hospital. The woman received a gunshot wound to her leg and was in good health, while the man had multiple gunshot wounds and was in serious condition.

No other information regarding the shooting was immediately available. Nobody was in custody. Police are still investigating.
