Broward County Teacher Arrested for Possession of Child Sexual Assault Materials

A Broward County middle school teacher who also works at a summer camp is accused of having child sexual assault materials.

Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested Quinton Isaiah Womack Wedlaw, 25, of unincorporated central Broward, on 10 felony charges on Tuesday, according to jail records.

Officials from Broward County Public Schools confirmed that Womack Wedlaw worked at Parkway Middle School in Lauderhill before the summer vacation. They stated he was employed in January as a science teacher.

According to the arrest complaint, deputies began investigating Womack Wedlaw after getting a tip in April from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that he had uploaded child sexual assault material to a Google account.

According to the article, officials discovered more than 25 files containing child sexual assault material in the Google account, as well as a selfie linking Womack Wedlaw to it.

Authorities described ten of the films, which they said showed a minor aged 10 to 12 being sexually abused by a “adult Black male.”

The report does not say whether authorities believe Womack Wedlaw took or was seen in any of the tapes.

Before Womack Wedlaw was arrested, deputies surrounded his home in the Roosevelt Gardens neighborhood, according to surveillance video.

“There were about four or five cars in my driveway,” neighbor Claudia Norvilus stated. “You never know what kind of people are in your own neighborhood, so you always have to be vigilant.”

After granting Womack Wedlaw a $200,000 bond, the judge ordered him to have no contact with children, to avoid schools, parks, and camps, and to have no Internet access.

He is also have to submit to electronic monitoring once released.

A BCPS representative stated, “The District and school leadership are aware of this individual’s arrest.” He is now not working at the school due to the summer break. For the upcoming school year, he will be relocated away from the school and pupils while the issue is resolved.”
