A New Jersey mother has been charged with murder after allegedly drowning her two small daughters in a bathtub.
Naomi Elkins, 27, is facing some accusations, including murder and weapon possession. Elkins drowned her two daughters, ages three and one, on Tuesday, authorities said. Officers also discovered the baby with stab wounds.
Officers responded to Elkins’ Lakewood house, an hour south of Newark, after receiving a report that her two children were in cardiac arrest on Tuesday evening.
Emergency services attempted to rescue the children, but both died at the scene.

According to Ocean County public records, she is charged with two murders and two counts of unlawful weapon possession. Elkins is still being jailed without bail, according to public records. The 27-year-old is married and has a Master’s degree. Her initial hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, with a detention hearing on Monday morning.
There were no officers in the area early Wednesday, and the property was not cordoned off with crime scene tape.
“I saw a ton of police cars and ambulances…I saw someone doing CPR in the ambulance,” one witness told News 12 New Jersey on Tuesday evening.

Last week, a father was detained in New Haven, Connecticut, after police claimed he attempted to drown his children in the Long Island Sound.
The youngsters were rescued after a West Haven police officer overheard crying around 2.30 a.m. on Saturday while on patrol. When he arrived, he found Romney Desronvil in the sea with his two children. Desronvil told him to keep back.
The officer saved both youngsters, who were sent to the hospital. According to independent, they were discharged from the intensive care unit.
